HULU

For Hulu, Shane developed The House, a horror anthology designed to reinvent how stories connect across a platform. At first glance, each episode stood alone—self-contained narratives with their own characters and tone. But as viewers moved deeper into the series, a larger pattern began to emerge: every story was connected.

The central idea was that a single, shape-shifting house built from the wood of the biblical Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil existed across time and space, drawing out the darkest parts of those who entered it. As the mythology unfolded, the reveal extended beyond the anthology itself suggesting that this same house existed across Hulu’s broader horror catalog, connecting iconic films and stories into one shared universe.

To push the storytelling further, Shane developed a series of connected VR experiences that allowed audiences to step inside the narrative and see events from entirely new perspectives.

Linked to key episodes like Let Me In and The Reckoning, these immersive experiences revealed hidden layers of the story offering emotional context and alternate viewpoints that reshaped how characters were understood. In one instance, a character perceived as purely villainous in the linear story is recontextualized through VR, allowing the audience to experience the events that shaped her.

The result was a layered narrative where story didn’t just unfold it deepened depending on how you chose to engage.

The concept extended into a physical-digital hybrid experience, where viewers could watch content within a haunted house environment that evolved over time. As more stories were consumed, the house itself began to change—becoming increasingly corrupted and influenced by the events of the series.

This created a feedback loop between content and environment, turning passive viewing into an evolving, atmospheric experience.
